Your account
You must be legally able to agree to these terms and meet the minimum age required by applicable law. Caravan is not directed to children under 13. If you need a parent's or guardian's permission under local law, obtain it before using the service.
Provide accurate account information and protect the account you use to sign in. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Contact us if you believe someone has accessed it without permission. Do not impersonate another person or use someone else's account without authorization.
Your content stays yours
You retain your rights in the photos, videos, writing, and other content you add. You give us a non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display that content only as needed to operate and provide Caravan, including sharing with the journal members you authorize and creating previews you request. Our service providers may exercise these permissions on our behalf for those purposes.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to upload and share your content, including permission to include other people's personal information where required. Respect copyright, privacy, and the rights of people shown in your media. We do not claim ownership of your journal content.
This license ends when content is removed from the service, subject to background cleanup, limited backups, and retention required by law as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Sharing journals with others
Journal members can view shared content and contribute according to their roles. Sharing an invitation code allows others to join, so keep codes private unless you intend to grant access. Contributions may reveal personal information, including locations and capture dates.
Consider what you share and who you invite. Other members may save copies or screenshots, and we cannot recall those copies. Membership, ownership transfers, leaving a journal, and deletion can affect access for you and other members.
Use Caravan responsibly
Use Caravan lawfully and respect other people. You must not:
- Upload illegal content, child sexual abuse material, threats, or content that infringes another person's rights.
- Harass others, expose private information without authorization, or share content in violation of applicable privacy laws.
- Attempt to access another account or journal without permission, bypass access controls, or exploit invitation codes.
- Introduce malicious code, disrupt the service, abuse its infrastructure, or use automated access that interferes with normal operation.
Features, storage, and generated suggestions
Features may depend on your device, permissions, network connection, and available storage. We may change features or storage limits as the service develops, with notice where required. Caravan currently does not offer paid subscriptions or physical photo-book ordering; photo-book drafts and previews do not place an order.
Transcripts, writing assistance, place lookups, and weather information can contain mistakes. Review suggestions before saving or sharing them. You remain responsible for the content you publish. Caravan is a journaling service and should not be relied on for navigation, emergency assistance, or professional advice.
Keep your own copies of important photos and writing. We work to maintain the service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that it will meet every need.
Privacy and third-party services
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information, permissions, sharing, retention, and deletion. Using third-party sign-in, maps, or platform features may also be subject to that provider's terms and policies.
Caravan's branding, software, and other materials we provide are owned by us or our licensors. These terms permit you to use the service; they do not transfer ownership of those materials or authorize use of our trademarks beyond what the law allows.
Ending use and account deletion
You may stop using Caravan at any time and delete your account through Profile → Delete account. Before deletion, review the choices to transfer or delete journals you own and keep copies of content you want to retain. Your authored contributions are removed during account deletion; other members' contributions can remain in journals that continue.
We may restrict access or remove content when reasonably necessary to address violations of these terms, unlawful activity, security risks, or legal obligations. We will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve an issue where appropriate, unless doing so would create a safety or security risk or be prohibited by law. Contact us if you believe we made a mistake or need to report abusive or unlawful content.
If we discontinue the service, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable and as required by law. Obligations that by their nature continue after use ends, including applicable content rights and liability provisions, survive termination.
Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Caravan is provided as available, without additional warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors. We are not responsible for content or actions of other users, or independent third-party services, except where the law makes us responsible.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, limits mandatory consumer rights, or removes remedies available under applicable law.
Updates and questions
We may update these terms as features or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide notice of material changes where required. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service; your rights under mandatory applicable law remain unaffected.
If an issue arises, contact us so we can try to resolve it. These terms do not require arbitration or waive rights to bring a claim or seek remedies under applicable law. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
App Store software license
For the iOS app, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement governs the software license unless a separate custom license is supplied through the App Store. These service terms do not replace that license. Read our Privacy Policy for information about your data.
